Raising the Roof
A dramatic raked roof design remedies the visual compression that resulted from the low ceilings that previously defined the once cramped room at the rear of this home.
Architecture with altered openings connects residents to much-loved outdoor spaces, making way for upward gazes through the panoramic window pane above. Welcoming soft sunshine inside, this thoughtful architecture creates an ever-changing display of light as it spreads across the brick and timber linings below.
Robust materials provide a subdued yet tactile platform for curated books and curios to feature throughout the space. Thermal upgrades, electrification and the reuse of salvaged bricks contribute to the carbon-conscious outcome of this project.
