Warmth Ingrained

A display of restraint, this Swinger Hill courtyard home sits within an important heritage precinct and has been revitalised through sympathetic interventions. Originally designed by Ian McKay and Partners, adaptations to this home were kept to internal alterations and thermal performance upgrades.

A rearrangement of internal spaces provides a modernised layout and improves the visual connection to the main courtyard without disrupting the existing character of the home.

Guided by 1970s materiality, the warmth of the hardwood floors and timber-panelled walls bring a harmonious architectural feel to the home.

These sympathetic interventions have carefully preserved the character of this Canberra home, while thermal performance upgrades ensure the comfort and enjoyment of this home will continue for many years.
